Set in a movie theatre showing a 50s horrorthon, theĀ  film is a bit of a teen horror fest crossed with ‘Face off’. It’s full of cheesy early 90’s characters including a weird sort of Frank Zappa cult guy as the baddie who made masks of his victims to hide his identity and gruesome true face.

It had lots of bad acting, lots of obvious deaths, and lots of terrible dialog; but it did have some good spoof films that were being shown in the backdrop, like the film about a giant mosquito. In fact some of the best parts were in the spoof 50s films they were showing; if only we could review them!

Now to a more serious area of weirdness. Something bothered us, and we can’t explain it.

In the credits it is revealed that this film was shot in Jamaica. Now at no point was there any indication it was based in Jamaica; it looks like it was shot in America and there are only the mandatory amount of black actors a film of its age and genre typically has. So why did they do it? We can only surmise that it was cheaper. Of course it does explain the reggae band doing a impromptu concert during a power outage, the appearance of which had us utterly perplexed. And how come their instruments and stuff all worked? Explain that!

Clearly it took us while to process what I saw but overall it wasn’t actually that bad, we mean it was bad, but it was a good bad. Still this is a pretty fun film made in a true Plopcorn style and is worth a watch, preferably with friends and beer.

Overall we are scoring this oneĀ  plop emojiplop emojiplop emojiplop emojiplop emojiplop emoji
