Ho Ho Ho, what better way to top off the festivities than with a Plopcorn review of a Christmas Cracker, or was it a Christmas Crapper? We quite simply googled “Christmas B Movies and picked out Santa’s Slay by random. Having not read or seen anything about this we had no idea what to expect. Our first surprise was James Caan, we were agog. Just as we were processing Mr Caan’s presence (not presents) Santa drops down the chimney and proceeds t…o hand out a yule inspired massacre, concluding in a jaw dropping realisation that Santa is Bill Goldberg.
The film is based on the idea that Santa is not at all a jolly fat man that loves kids but a evil murdering daemon that loves to kill on the 25th of December. However, 1000 years ago Santa was tricked by a Norwegian Angel into become the aforementioned jolly fat man that loves kids. Well, Santa has finished his sentence and he is back to his old ways unless some random teenage boy can save us and end Santa. The odds don’t look good though given that as a lad, who is in his mid teams, he can’t spot that the fit girl he works with has a massive wide-on for him. I mean even us at 16 would have managed to pick up the not so subtle signs.
Stupidity follows with some brilliant laugh out loud moments and a lot of fun time slaying. No effort has been spared to crack a gag and these are, on the whole, pretty well executed. They’ve managed to also insert some mandatory jokes without any need or reason, which in some ways make then even funnier, such as a fart joke and silly name jokes. They also managed to fit in about 8 pairs of boobs, it is truly is a gift!
We laughed the whole way through and would recommend anyone with a slightly off kilter sense of humor to watch this film. It ticks all the boxes for B movie fun and is actually quite well delivered, in part made possible by the reasonable budget. The film also has quite a lot to say about Norway, indeed if you are Norwegian this should be a mandatory viewing. Shout out to our Norwegian followers? Hmmmm, didn’t think so.
We believe this film should fill you with Christmas cheer and make it a merry time. Just don’t let Santa come down your chimney!
Will watch again, likely every Christmas time.
